DBD’s team of safety experts is able to undertake Safety Management at all levels. This includes delivery of the Safety Case, the Safety Case integration into the project delivery and overall Compliance with the Regulatory framework.

Safety Case

DBD can deliver Safety Case requirements through our Safety Assessment Approach, done through the design basis accident analysis approach. This then flows through the Safety Case documentation. The quality of identified engineering is further underpinned by the application of rigorous design safety assessment principles. The safety analysis is then complimented by Probabilistic Risk Assessment (PRA) to demonstrate that the balance of risk across a facility meets criteria and that risks are ALARP. Safety Case Integration

A key issue for many programmes is ensuring that the safety, design and engineering are all integrated and meet the requirements of the overarching safety case. DBD has vast experience of implementing and integrating the safety case requirements into the design and engineering process. In addition DBD has implemented this process through the construction phase of major programmes, ensuring that the contracting community were fully briefed and aware of the requirements of the safety case and its implications on the construction methods to be utilised.

DBD also confirms that the project team are aware, briefed and understand the Clients requirements as the Site Licensee and the legal obligations that this entails.

DBD has key personnel with expertise in designing processes, implementing and delivering independent nuclear safety assessments of safety cases. The senior team at DBD has a broad and detailed knowledge of the nuclear fuel cycle and are able to take a view globally or locally as independent assessors.

Regulatory Compliance

DBD specialists have considerable experience in the legal requirement and regulatory expectations placed on the nuclear industry. This relates to the regulatory safety assessment principles, the nuclear site licence, the Ionising Radiation Regulations and the requirements of the Environment Agency.
