Nurturing a New Generation

DBD knows that the future of the industry is in the hands of the next generation which is why we continually reach out to the community with a number of vital initiatives.

Most importantly, we encourage the interest and participation of young people and the under-represented female gender in Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) careers.

With funding and support we also promote the development of students and graduates through a range of beneficial schemes.

Supporting Schools

DBD has supported the Discovery Scholarship scheme in Warrington, via the hosting of work experience placements for students. The scheme is designed to encourage students in Warrington to progress into STEM careers. DBD also supports careers fairs and events at schools. If your school/college is interested in our STEM ambassadors supporting your event, please email enquiries@dbdinternational.com

Kirsty Sloan

Chemical Engineering, BEng

Before arriving for my placement at DBD, I was expecting to learn more about chemical engineering and looking at the raw materials that the subject involves. As well as learning from the expertise of experienced professionals, I also acquired more skills for my future in the industry than I ever imagined I would gather in the short space of three weeks. I gained a vast amount of confidence in myself, which allowed me to tackle tasks I was given as well as enjoying working as part of the team. I feel lucky to have had this opportunity and I am looking forward to my next placement. Kirsty is currently studying for a Studying For Bachelors in Chemical Engineering at West of Scotland University.

My experience at DBD has greatly improved my understanding of the world of work and has allowed me to make a contribution to the company by using skills I have already learned on my course such as using coding to model real industry processes. During my time so far at DBD I have been able to experience several different areas of the company, which has helped me in deciding where I would like to specialise in the future.
Carwyn is currently studying for a Masters in Mathematics at Cardiff University.
